where do we go from here? | THE MINING INDUSTRY
A direct threat to sacred landscapes, historical infrastructures, natural landmarks and topography, the environmental impacts of mining are large-scale and permanent. Although multinationals insist that the technologies in place ensure environmentally friendly practices, evidence proves otherwise. The deposition and leaching of toxic chemical such as arsenic and nitrogen contaminate local water supplies, poisoning its inhabitants and disrupting the entire ecosystem. Yet this is just a drop in the bucket for humanity, who seems to be confidently walking the wrong direction down a one way street with a dead end. Don’t let our generation be remembered as the one that saw it coming and let it happened. If you’re not angry, you are asleep and someone who is sleeping won’t stand up. How much longer will we buy into the broken record rationale that secures for the western world the limited resources at stake?

A looming menace to revered landscapes, historical legacies, and the intrinsic tapestry of nature, mining's environmental impact is colossal and irreversible. Despite multinational assurances of eco-friendly practices, evidence contradicts these claims. The insidious release of toxic agents like arsenic and nitrogen infiltrates local water sources, a slow poison corroding both life and ecosystem integrity.
Yet, the prevailing reality barely scratches the surface of our collective predicament. Humanity walks unwaveringly down a perilous path, where shortsighted actions yield irreversible consequences. The narrative of this series beckons us to a crossroads: to either be bystanders, allowing history to unfold unchecked, or to be the catalysts of change our world demands.
Anger becomes a catalyst for awareness, a salve to the complacency that has gripped our generation. As we slumber in a haze of convenience, we risk becoming passive witnesses to our own undoing. The question resounds: How much longer shall we acquiesce to the repetitive rhetoric that serves vested interests, perpetuating the unsustainable consumption of our limited resources?
In the face of this crisis, the series stands as an awakening, urging us to stand united against the march towards devastation. It beckons us to cast aside our slumber and make our presence known—a collective call to alter our course and forge a legacy not defined by negligence, but by courage and transformative action.
