In 2017, for the first time in Africa, Lagos the entertainment capital of
Africa, home to the world second largest film industry (Nollywood)
hosted the newest smartphone film festival on the continent - African
Smartphone International Film Festival (ASIFF) a platform to showcase
new talents using simple tools and readily available, that’s often
overlook; The smartphone.
ASIFF provides new emerging film-makers an international platform to
showcase ideas, talents and creativity irrespective of the budget.
Encouraging professionals, amateurs and aspiring film makers to share
their stories shot on a smartphones, tablets, and webcams to be screen
on the big screen.
Illusion won't save us from reality, even as the sustained narrative of tabloids becomes history and the myth of progress continues to perpetuate violence and inequality. Globalization has moved forward unevenly and no one can say where this "New Frontier" is taking us.
